Case study: fingerprint smart handle on a composite front door in Warrington
In March 2025 a homeowner in Warrington (WA4) booked a smart lock fitting on a Monday evening, and our locksmith fitted it the next morning. The chrome lever handle on their black composite front door was replaced with a slim smart handle that opens by fingerprint, keypad code or app.

The job
- Where: Warrington (WA4), March 2025
- Door: a black composite front door with a multipoint lock
- Fitted: a slim smart handle with fingerprint reader and keypad, working the existing multipoint lock
- Time from booking to fitted: about 15 hours
What we did
- Removed the old chrome lever handle and euro cylinder.
- Fitted the slim smart handle to the existing screw positions, so the door did not need new holes.
- Enrolled the family's fingerprints, set a code and checked the multipoint lock threw fully when the handle was lifted.
What to take from this job
- Composite doors suit slim smart handles. Most use the same multipoint locks as uPVC doors.
- Lift the handle, then lock. On a multipoint door the handle still has to be lifted to throw the hooks and bolts; the smart lock then locks it.
- Fingerprints for the family, codes for visitors. No keys to hand out or lose.
